One of those saturdays
One song for this sunny saturday. Mac Miller. I have been reading a lot of people call the dude a “sell out” and other not so nice adjectives. I have no clue why, IM glad Im not following all the internet dramas that spark over some bullshit, so whatever, have been following the guy since that “knock knock” video that Bobby Hundreds posted in his blog, and I have always felt the dude was original, positive, and besides the whole smoking lyrics, a fresh rapper, and besides all, someone who has worked his way into building something out of his talent. Whatever the critics are, I dont really care.
And more music. Were you into hip hop in the 90′s? Most def you were watching Yo Raps on MTV then, and if you were a european kid most definitely some of your friends who had a satellite Tv suscription was recording that into those bulky VHS tapes. I remember when someone told me there was this Tv Show on american TV that covered all the hiphop and it was airing… videoclips! of our fave rappers. I used to trade VHS tapes with hiphop clips of those rappers, and mostly everything was part of that Tv show called Yo Raps. VH1 did an amazing documentary on the Tv Show, on the influence it had to shape music as we know it now, and how that era shaped many of the things we understand now as hiphop. Its sad so many things have changed, but the magic of discovering music by a videoclip, by interviews, on a fresh, meaningul and true way…. has somehow been lost for years. An amazing documentary. Enjoy it.
Enjoy the sun, and if you can hit the beach! I will be all weekend working behind a computer and will try to train tomorrow muay thai and jiujitsu to sweat a little. Smile and love your loved ones!
